I am going to hit upon the saga of Sea Shepherd and Pete Bethune for a bit here as it seems warranted.
I see that Pete now has his own organization for the conservation and protection of marine mammals. This is a great idea as Pete is a good person to be doing just that, he has the know-how and expertize to handle the media now and has of course been wrongfully imprisoned for sending the captain of the vessel who rammed him and almost killed him and his crew a bill for the boats replacement and a warrant for his arrest, why is it that no one ever questioned the master of that vessel.....??? I know why.... it is because the Japanese did the strong-arm maneuver with New Zealand and the Aussies. There is no legal reason as far as I can see in Admiralty laws that allow for this to take place and the captain of that vessel did in fact ram the boat illegally, so they should be held accountable regardless of the actions taken by the group. there is no legal excuse to deliberately ram another vessel under that umbrella. Now that so-called trail, was a stupid thing to do on the part of Japan, it only served a media purpose for Japan and nothing more, and all I saw again was the strong-armed tactics being used once again to deny any wrong-doing on the part of the captain and Japan. Now as for the actions of Paul Watson..... I see where he was attempting to go with it, but there again another comedy of errors began the moment Pete boarded that boat. Somehow there must be a reconciliation between the two, as there is a vested effort by both to attain the same results instead of going pitted against one another which seems likely to both fail. There is also a very good chance that both will start a media war against the other and the whole idea of saving mammal lives is sidestepped by the petty arguing of both groups in the media. One day both will see that being bull-headed will only serve one purpose and that is to be a pain in the others side where the reality is that both want the same outcome and both are working towards that result, so why not work together and stop acting like a couple of children in the sandbox fighting over who is the boss. then comes Greenpeace.... they claim to be saving whales in the Southern Ocean.... I think not, all they have done is make a joke out of the entire situation and to me are taking in donations and doing nothing to resolve that issue at all except to bolster their claims that they actually do save whales, and as of late I have seen nothing to support such a claim in fact I see them getting donations and building a green empire off the backs of others hard work and that ain't right either, they need to stop what they are doing and start being honest and start protecting the whales or stay the hell out of the Southern Ocean with their ships as they serve no purpose other than to keep claiming that they save the lives of whales and in fact they let the slaughter continue right in front of them only to film it and do nothing to actually save a whales life.... I too can watch the news and see with my own eyes what it is that they are doing and or not doing. It is organizations like that, that actually make me want to go out and buy a gas guzzling car and be BROWN.
